Our Take
Contender Slim is a practical secondary-car option for families who want familiar adjustments and a manageable seat to move. The 16 lb stated weight is more useful to that job than the Slim label alone. We would be cautious about buying it for a newborn without a fit check: the published minimum weight does not guarantee the lowest shoulder position will fit every small baby. For a toddler, it offers a straightforward route through forward-facing harness use, followed by a separate booster.
What we like
- Relatively manageable 16 lb weight
- No-rethread harness
- Two harness modes
Worth knowing
- Its lowest harness setting may not suit every newborn.
- No booster mode or built-in belt lock-off.
