Our Take
The Cruz V3 is the single-child UPPAbaby, and it is ready from birth in the stroller itself: the V3 seat lies flat, the Infant Insert ships in the box, and UPPAbaby's newborn rule is simply the most-reclined position. No bassinet or car seat has to come first. Mesa and Aria infant seats click onto adapters already built into the frame, dual-spring FlexRide suspension and never-flat tires keep the push smooth, and the basket carries a 30-pound load.
Balance that against the lift and the footprint: an official 26.5 pounds that owners repeatedly call bulky and heavy, a 17-inch-deep fold with the seat attached (13.5 inches seat-off), and the price, which is the recurring objection in owner reviews. The one-step fold self-stands, and the 22.5-inch width keeps doorways and aisles normal.
One boundary worth spelling out: this is a one-child stroller. The PiggyBack board sold separately adds a standing rider behind the seat, not a second seat, and no official source invites jogging.
What we like
- From birth in the stroller itself — lay-flat seat plus included Infant Insert; no bassinet purchase required
- Independent-test marks near the top of a 20-model full-size category, with a dedicated single-product review
- Car-seat adapters built into the frame — Mesa and Aria attach directly
- Rain shield, bug shield and Infant Insert all in the box (unusual at this tier)
- Compact one-step fold that self-stands; 22.5 in-wide footprint
Worth knowing
- Heavy and bulky for what is nominally the compact full-size — 26.5 lb and a 17-inch-deep seat-on fold
- Single child only: a second seat is impossible; the PiggyBack board is the sole growth path
- The price is the recurring objection in owner reviews
- One owner noted bassinet-mode use means disassembling to fold, and Jake can no longer be bought directly from UPPAbaby (retired colorway)
Best for
A one-child family (or one planning a first-to-second-rider path) that wants premium full-size comfort from birth without a separate bassinet purchase, and city-cruising smoothness over jogging or rough-trail capability.
Consider another option if
You need it to fit a small trunk without folding gymnastics, run alongside a bike, or carry two children — a lighter compact stroller, a real jogger, or a convertible double will serve those jobs better.
