Our Take

The City Select 2 is the conversion play: one frame runs single, double with a second seat, or triple with a glider board, with 45 lb and 40 in limits per seat, a reversible seat, never-flat all-terrain tires and a telescoping handle. In owner reviews the single-to-double push earns the most praise even fully loaded, with multi-year owners still satisfied — 4.1 of 5 on the brand's own site, and 4.2 on a smaller Amazon pool that spans colorways.

Two things temper that. Independent testing found ease of use and folded bulk its weakest sides despite the one-step-fold marketing — folded, it stays bulky — and the most-repeated owner complaint is that the second-seat adapter is no longer sold on its own, so the double conversion can become a surprise accessory purchase. Price the full conversion before buying.

And despite the all-terrain tires, the manual explicitly rules out running and jogging.

What we like

  • 24 configurations — single to double (second seat) to triple (glider board)
  • Per-seat ceilings: 45 lb and 40 in, with a reversible seat and newborn-recline guidance
  • Owners: smooth push fully loaded, 3-5 year durability, strong tandem maneuverability
  • Never-flat all-terrain tires, front suspension and telescoping handle are standard

Worth knowing

  • Owners report the second-seat adapter is no longer sold separately — only inside a $200+ kit
  • A dedicated independent test scored ease of use and folded bulk weakest — folded it stays bulky
  • Explicitly not for running or jogging despite the all-terrain tires
  • Isolated durability reports at 1.5-2 years: recline lever ($225 fix), peeling handlebar, sticky brake

Best for

Families who genuinely plan a second rider and want one stroller frame to absorb it — bought with the conversion accessory secured first

Consider another option if

You run or skate (the manual bans it), you lift the stroller into a car daily (owners call it heavy), or you want a simple one-child stroller — the conversion hardware is the whole point and the whole hassle.

Check before buying

  • Conversion-hardware purchase path — the top owner complaint is that the adapter cannot be bought separately.
  • Official: "not suitable for running, jogging, skating or inline skating"
  • Car seats attach to the UPPER seat mount only on City Select 2
  • Maxi-Cosi Mico and Cybex Aton/Cloud families are not compatible with City Select 2 per the April 2026 chart
  • Do not fold the stroller with a rear-facing seat installed; not for stairs or escalators with children
  • The PDP marketing prose lists UPPAbaby among travel-system brands, but the official April 2026 chart has NO UPPAbaby row — the chart governs
  • The Amazon detail lists a slightly heavier figure (26.8 pounds) than the official spec (26.71) — confirm the current figure with the manufacturer or retailer before buying.
  • PDP marketing prose lists UPPAbaby among travel-system car-seat brands, but the official April 2026 compatibility chart contains no UPPAbaby row — confirm the current figure with the manufacturer or retailer before buying.
  • The manufacturer's "20% smaller fold" claim carries its own footnote comparison (2020 UPPAbaby Vista V2 single-to-double, US) — confirm the current figure with the manufacturer or retailer before buying.

Helpful Questions

Is the City Select 2 a jogging stroller?
No. The manual states it is "not suitable for running, jogging, skating or inline skating." The all-terrain tires and suspension are for surfaces, not speed.
Can a newborn ride from day one?
Yes, three official ways: the toddler seat fully reclined (the manual's newborn recommendation), the City Select 2 Pram (SKU 2149948, sold separately), or a compatible infant car seat on the correct adapter (sold separately).
What does it take to convert to a double?
A Second Seat (SKU 2149905/2149814/2149903/2149902) and, on some configurations, the adapter hardware; but read owner reviews first: the separately-sold adapter has been discontinued as a standalone part, so buying the full second-seat kit is the current official path.
Which infant car seats fit?
Per the April 2026 official chart: Baby Jogger City GO, Graco SnugRide, Britax B-Safe families, Chicco KeyFit families and the Nuna PIPA family; each with its own sold-separately adapter, mounted on the upper seat position only. Maxi-Cosi and Cybex are not listed, and despite marketing prose naming UPPAbaby, the official chart has no UPPAbaby row.
Why do reviews mention 26.7 and 26.8 pounds?
The manufacturer spec is 26.71 lb (marketed as "less than 27 lb"); the Amazon detail lists 26.8 pounds; a rounding-level variance, not a different configuration.
